What I look for in movies

My all time favorite movie would have to be Rent because I enjoy watching the characters and I get engulfed into the story line. I feel like I am one of the characters. I also love singing and Rent has got that covered.  I personally respond more to the formal elements; for example sound, acting, and plot. What matters more to me is formal elements because without the formal elements I would not be interested with the cultural ones. Rent is about a group of strangers that become friends and they are living in the poor part of New York City. They are having difficulties with drug, money, and aids. Some examples of how the formal elements pike my interest in the cultural ones, is when a few of the friends are in a support group for aids. The song they sing is "life support" and the song helps me understand the meaning of what they are going through.  Also another song "Will I" just puts emphasis on how they feel and it makes you feel like you are in the movie and it keeps me interested. I really like watching movies where they make you feel like you are in the movie as well; Rent is the perfect example of that.
